Women's Golf Closes Fall Slate at Coastal Invitational
Brewton, AL – Calhoun women's golf closed out their fall season this week at the Coastal Alabama Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Juniper Creek Golf Club in Brewton, Alabama. Battling freezing temperatures and high winds on Monday that lingered into Tuesday, the Warhawks fought through tough conditions to finish 5th, ending the fall on a strong note.
Emma Thomas led the Warhawks with a +29 total, highlighted by a career-best round of 85 on Monday despite the challenging weather. Anna Lowry followed closely at +31, carding her career-low 83 on Tuesday to finish the tournament strong. Sadie Graham posted a +37, while Hannah Hall and Kenley Staats rounded out the Calhoun lineup. The Warhawks also recorded their lowest team score of the fall, shooting a 353 in the second round.
Head Coach Richard Morgan praised his team's resilience and progress through difficult conditions. "I'm really excited about what we saw to finish the fall," Morgan said. "They fought through some awful weather, and for Anna, Emma, and Kenley to post career-best rounds in those conditions says a lot about their toughness and growth. We've got areas to improve this winter, but this was a great way to close out the fall, and I'm tremendously proud of this group."
Women's golf will now turn their focus to offseason training before returning to competition in the spring.
