Men's Golf Finishes 4th in Gulfport, Mississippi
Gulfport, MS – Calhoun Men's Golf turned in another strong performance this week, finishing fourth out of 17 teams at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Invitational. The Warhawks were just one shot back of the lead entering Tuesday's final round and went on to finish as the top team from the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC).
Sophomore Jayce Hutchens led Calhoun with a steady three-over-par (+3) performance across 54 holes, while Reece Hardiman followed closely at +5. Sammy Holmes, Jesse Kilgore, and AJ Bradford rounded out the scoring lineup for the Warhawks.
Hardiman opened the tournament on Monday with a strong 71 (-1) in round one to help Calhoun surge into contention early. In round two, Hutchens carded a 70 (-2) to keep the Warhawks near the top of the leaderboard. Tuesday's final round saw consistent play from Hardiman and Holmes, each recording 74 (+4) as Calhoun closed out another impressive showing in a deep and talented field.
Head Coach Richard Morgan praised his team's effort and growth this fall. "This was the strongest field we've faced all season, and I'm proud of how our guys rose to the challenge," Morgan said. "We were right in the mix from start to finish, and performances like this show the depth and competitiveness of our group. It's the kind of experience that will pay off as we head into the spring."
The Warhawks will return to action at the Jefferson State Invitational played at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, AL, on November 3-4, closing out their fall schedule.
