Men's Soccer Season Ends at ACCC Semifinals
Millbrook, AL – Calhoun Men's Soccer wrapped up its inaugural campaign on Friday, October 24, falling 4–0 to top-seeded Wallace State in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC)/NJCAA Region 22 Semifinals at 17 Springs.
The Warhawks faced a disciplined and experienced Wallace State squad that controlled the tempo from start to finish. Despite the setback, the postseason appearance capped a season of meaningful progress for Calhoun's first-year program, one that showcased growth, competitiveness, and promise for the future.
Freshman defender James Brown was recognized by the conference for his standout season, earning a spot on the ACCC All-Conference Second Team. Brown anchored the Warhawk back line all year, serving as a key leader and steady presence in the defensive third.
Head Coach Felix Obilo reflected on his team's first season with pride and optimism: "While this isn't how we wanted the year to end, I couldn't be prouder of how far this group has come," Obilo said. "To build a new program from the ground up and reach the conference tournament in year one is a tremendous accomplishment. These guys set the foundation for what Calhoun Soccer will be, and the experience they've gained this season will only make us stronger moving forward."
Calhoun concludes its inaugural season with a 4–10 record, scoring 16 goals and earning its first-ever appearance in the ACCC Tournament, a strong first step for a program with a bright future ahead.
