Men's Golf Finishes Third at Ranger Classic
Holly Springs, MS - Calhoun Men's Golf kicked off the 2025 season with a strong showing at the Ranger Classic, hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College at Kirkwood National Golf Course on August 25–26. Competing over 36 holes, Calhoun finished third out of 12 teams, posting a collective score of +42.
Individually, Jayce Hutchens led the team with a solid +7, earning an 8th-place finish overall. Sammy Holmes followed with a +10. The five-man team also featured AJ Bradford, Jesse Kilgore, and Clark Hayes, while Jackson Yeager participated as an individual competitor.
Head Coach Richard Morgan praised the team's performance on the demanding course, likening the rough to what players face at a U.S. Open. "The course was extremely difficult, and the rough reminded me of a U.S. Open setup," Morgan said. "Our guys battled and showed a lot of composure. This was a great start to the season and gives us plenty to build on."
The women's golf team will compete at Kirkwood National Golf Course September 15–16, while the men's team returns to action September 8–9 at the RTJ Golf Trail at Highland Oaks in Dothan, AL.
